bio / about me
Silvia Minguzzi
I am an Italian photographer. I live and work in Rome.Photography has always been part of my life, though not in the leading role forquite a long time.In 2023 I decided to join a course on reportage and then it came home to me that photography was not just a passion. It had become a need, an essential tool to observe and explore the world.A year later I attended a Reportage Masterclass at Associazione Romana WSP photography, where I was granted a scholarship for my work Nausicaa. Before taking up photography as a profession I attended Medical School at University.During my studies I was drawn to Medical Anthropology, and I also got interested in International Cooperation and Public Health. These subjects imply many of the themes and topics I am presently exploring in my photo works. My vision is aimed at the complexity of social, economic and cultural influences on individuals and communities.Another theme that affects me and that I intend to further explore is the body, not simply in biological terms but as an existential entity expressing both the inner self and the culture surrounding it.I also collaborate with an independent publisher, Kipple Officina Libraria.I am now working at the covers of their publications.
